The Case of the Missing Pager
Early in our real estate career, my partner and I were hosting an open house—back in the days when pagers were a thing and cell phones were still a dream!
The open house went wonderfully, and we packed up and headed home, thinking everything had gone perfectly.
A few days later, I realized my pager was missing. I searched everywhere… my purse, the car, the office, even the laundry basket. Nothing.
Meanwhile, the homeowners were hearing a mysterious beeping sound several times a day. They searched the kitchen, the bedrooms, even changed the batteries in a smoke detector before finally deciding to investigate the living room. When they lifted the couch cushions… there it was. My pager!
Needless to say, they had a good laugh—and so did we. More than 30 years later, every time we see them, the joke still comes up: “So… what exactly were the two of you doing on our couch during that open house?” 😂
Some clients become customers. Some become lifelong friends. We’re grateful these wonderful people became both.
